Readworks.org Sign up for free passages and activities/questions. http://tntel.tnsos.org/ : Tennessee Electronic Library offers literature and a number of other of resources. Watchknowlearn.org gives you access to free videos across the curriculum. It also has many of the lower grades’ exemplar texts on video. To access this library, click on the plus sign next to Language Arts. Then click the plus sign next to Common Core Exemplar Texts. http://americanliterature.com/ This site houses classic novels, short stories, fables, fairy tales (the original versions), poems, etc. It’s all free. You can print it, or students can use mobile devices to read it. Decodable Readers and Lessons West Virginia Phonics West Virginia Phonics is a free explicit phonics program. Click on the link above to access all parts of the program. The first unit is #2. The folders are organized by week and target sound. Each folder contains daily lesson plans, target words, and a story. Decodable Readers These readers accompany the former reading series. Click on the link above to download the readers which are organized by grade. Each file includes the title and a description of the phonics focus. After you download the folders, you will be able to search for your phonics focus or you can browse to find what you need. Kenn’s poetry has been published by Scholastic, and there are multiple poems to choose from. http://100.best-poems.net/100-best_funny_poems.html This site houses poems by classic poets. You can navigate from this page (the navigation bar is in the right margin) to find love poems . . . You can also search by poets. http://shelsilversteinpoems.wordpress.com/ This site hosts an extensive collect of Shel Silverstein poems – even more than you can find on his site - http://www.shelsilverstein.com/books/giraffe-and-half/ Shel's site has cool video readings of his poems. http://www.poemhunter.com/ I find this site the easiest to use. Type in the poet and click on his/her name to access numerous poems. Or, type in the title, a quote or lyric to find a particular poem. Classic and modern poetry are both found on this site (Frost – Angelou). |
